Placement Cell Activity:Self reliance is the way to developed India by Ashwani Mahajan

India will become a developed nation following the path of self reliance and encouragement to the entrepreneurs. Renowned economist, columnist, author, national co convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Prof of Economics at PGDAV College, Delhi University Dr Ashwani Mahajan spoke these words while addressing a lecture organised on the topic 'Entrepreneurship and AatmNirbhar Bharat' by Placement Cell of Govt College, Sector-9, Gurugram. Organised at Conference Hall of the college with an aim to inspire and educate students about self-reliance and the entrepreneurial spirit, this lecture was attended was 100 students of Arts, Commerce and Science undergraduate and post graduate students. This is worth mentioning that MA Economics is one among 5 PG courses which are offered GC Sector 9 of Gurugram. This lecture proved to be a panecea to quench the thirst of knowledge for Economics students and to give them clarity regarding economic policies of the country. Event commenced with a floral welcome of the keynote speaker by the Placement Cell. In this introductory speech Vice Principal Dr Rajesh Kundu laid his emphasis on the importance of the economic and policy related awareness among the students. Highlighting the success stories of the young Indian entrepreneurs, he motivated the youth to become job providers. In his keynote address, Dr Mahajan drew a picture of India's economic history, India's opulent past and the acumen of our artisans, craftsmen, textile merchants, bankers and traders. He said that our trade dominated the world market for centuries. Speaking on the economic policies adopted by Indian Govt after 1947, he said that time has come when we should rely on our young minds, expose them to a healthy competition and follow some protectionism to provide them a level playing field in front of multinational giants. Motivating the students, he made the students aware of the current entrepreneurial landscape in the country and asked them to make their contribution in making India, self reliant. Q&A session was also kept by the organisers to provide solutions to the curiosity of the audience. Interactive Q&A session allowed students to engage with the speaker, seeking advice on various aspects of entrepreneurship, from ideation to execution. It was attended by faculty members Dr Neelam Dahiya, Dr Mukesh Sharma, Dr Kaushal Kumari, Dr Lalita Gaur, Dr Brijesh Kumar, Dr Bhawna Yadav, Ms Ritu Phogat and Ms Vandana Yadav.
