Report on Legal Literacy Mission(19.04.2024) With reference to DGHE memo no. 01/12-2022 Co. (3) dated 16.04.2024, various competitions were organized under legal literacy cells in the college on 19.04.2024. It aims to promote legal awareness, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of legal concepts among students. Here are some common types of competitions that were organized: Debates, declamation, slogan writing, essay writing, poem recitation, on the spot painting, power point presentation, preparation of documentary film on social issues, skit and quiz. Under these competitions, students provided opportunity to research and argue on various legal issues or topics. Students actively participated in various competitions. These allowed students to explore legal issues in depth and articulate their viewpoints in a structured manner. Human rights, fundamental duties, rights of disabled person, rights of destitute women and children, drug addiction, female feticide, hygiene and general awareness, protection of women from domestic violence, dowry prohibition, sexual harassment, RTI, right to education, child marriage, ragging, right to senior citizens etc. were the topics for the all events. Students got 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in various events and out of these 1st and 2nd position holders from every event/competition will compete at district level on 28.04.2024 in GCG sec-14 Gurugram. These competitions and activities play a crucial role in enhancing students’ legal literacy, fostering critical thinking skills and preparing them for future careers in law or related fields. The participation of students often involves various strategies, and providing information or materials earlier can indeed be one effective approach. When students receive materials, instructions, or announcements ahead of time, they have more opportunity to prepare, engage with the content, and plan their contributions. Incorporating early distribution of information can thus serve as a foundational element in fostering increased student participation and engagement across various educational settings. Involvement of students could be more if the information received earlier i.e. before 16.04.2024. Dr.Mukesh Principal Convener Legal Literacy Cell
