Govt. College, Sector-9, Gurugram was ab
initio established in the year 2003. Due to the growing demand for a college to
accommodate the substantially increased number of students residing in the
older part of the city and neighboring villages, the Haryana Urban Development
Authority under the direction of Govt. of Haryana established this institution. It was inaugurated by the then hon’ble
Chief Minister of Haryana Ch. Om Prakash Chautala on Wednesday, 23rd August
2003. This institution embarked on its
voyage in the academic session 2003-04. Initially the college offered admissions
only in the Humanities and Commerce streams at the Under Graduate level.
However, soon, Post-Graduation in Economics and Mathematics were introduced.
Along with this giant leap, Honours courses in English and Economics commenced
in 2005.
The first job-oriented course i.e. Bachelor in Business Administration
was also introduced. Over the years new courses have been added. Presently the
college offers Under Graduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Non-medical
streams. Job oriented courses – BBA, BCA and BTTM equip the young boys and
girls for getting the lucrative jobs. The students are admitted as per the
guidelines issued by the Higher Education Department. By imparting analytic,
value-based education the college has acquired a reputation of excellence in
this region of Haryana. The Principal, the members of college fraternity, the
ministerial staff and the support staff work tirelessly to make the college a
coveted and sought after institution for higher learning.
